Using the included pins, puncture the foam core through the opening at one end of the piece or straight through the filter fabric in multiple areas
Dig a 3in deep x 6in wide trench inside the work area (upstream)
Place the tail in the trench with the core outside the trench on the downstream side (away from the work area)
If there is sufficient cutback (greater than 5inches) then do not dig a trench or fold the tail section
Connect sections of DuraWattle by inserting the closed end of one section into the opened end of another
Pin the tail with provided nails every four (4) feet and over any overlapping sections
Mark Pin locations above the soil level with spray paint
Backfill over the tail to secure it to the surface
If DuraWattle is being used as a linear barrier and not installed around the perimeter of the site, then J-hook one section of DuraWattle at each end of the run
Soil Removal:
Using the painted guide, pop out pins with a shovel
Install surface should be clear of debris and flat as possible to maximize contact with the surface
Place the tail section inside the work area with the core downstream
Connect sections of DuraWattle by inserting the closed end of one section into the opened end of another
Fold the tail section over itself and a wood plank or a predrilled 2in metal strip is laid over the tail.
Screws should be spaced 4 feet apart along the length of the strip or wood plank
Use a rotary hammer and masonry (asphalt) bit to predrill the hard surface.
Use an impact driver to drive the 2 ¾” depth concrete screw anchors (Tapcon screws) and secure the steel strips/wood planks.
If DuraWattle is being used as a linear barrier and not installed around the perimeter of the site, then J-hook one section of DuraWattle at each end of the run
Using the included pins, puncture the foam core straight through the filter fabric in multiple areas
